Meet your teacher: Ms. Langner

a coffee cup and notepad on a table

I've lived in Omaha since 2010, after living in both small towns and big cities. Omaha makes me think of the Goldilocks Principle: it is not too small, not too big, but just right.

I drink too much coffee and have a billion amateur hobbies. Writing, painting, baking, puzzle gmes, board games, and of course spending time with my kids. I just gotta be careful about putting my coffee cup next to my paintwater, lol.

Why Computer Science?

When I was a kid, my big brother sat me down at our Commodore64 with a copy of PC Magazine that he borrowed from his school library. It had pages and pages of all the code you needed to type into the machine to make a game. The next day, we were able to use the resulting 2-player game of Connect Four. Instead of red and black disc tokens, the program showed little 8-bit cats and dogs. My imagination lit up. If I could replace any game piece with any image, then there was no limit to what I could do!

That's what Computer Science means to me: limitless possibility. I create and destroy virtual worlds from the comfort of my swivel chair. I can have an idea and then make it come true. I can collaborate with anyone anywhere in the world, and I can share the results with anyone anywhere in the world.

That collaboration became extremely important to me. Computer Science is the ultimate interdisciplinary subject. No matter your other interests, computer science can support and extend the possibilities!
